âRemind me again how you got me to agree to this?â Morgan pulls one arm over her head and leans to the side.
My gaze shamelessly travels the length of her body, catching on the slice of tanned skin exposed when her tank top lifts. âWe donât have to do this if you donât want to.â
Long, toned legs in tiny runner shorts and a sports bra peeking out from the sides of her tank top reels me in, capturing my attention. Her hair is gathered into a thick ponytail high on her head and sheâs wearing a good pair of running shoes.
I touched her last night. Every inch of her beautiful body, and the trust she handed me, her abandon and pleasureâall of it drove me wild.
âNo way, weâre doing this. Iâm not going to have you tell me Iâm a quitter or wimp or something.â Her eyes glitter in jest but I can see the challenge is real and she thrives on it. âYou ready?â
I complete my squat and stand to shake out my legs. âYeah. You going to set the pace?â
She pauses to study me as if my question holds a deeper meaning, then smiles. âYes. Letâs go.â With that, Morgan walks across the parking lot of her building, toward the beach.
At some point last night, after making Morgan come, we watched the movie and then talked about the intense workouts the actors must go through to play the Avengers. Morgan mentioned she used to run but hadnât done so in months.
She provided no reason for the absence and didnât have to. Since the shooting, her life was no longer the same. I get the distinct impression that her life literally fell apart.
I offered up that I ran a few days a week and if she was up to it, she should join me. She agreed, purely fueled by the natural competitor in her.
Our warm-up shifts from a brisk walk to a jog, and not long after weâre both sweating, in the zone where no talking is required. My thoughts are consumed with last night.
She tried to kiss me, and where Iâd usually leave or let her kiss me to save face, I didnât. When kissed, I usually shut down. Iâm numb. Last night, was the opposite. I felt too muchâ¦for Morgan.
For the first time, I wanted someone to kiss me. Not just someoneâMorgan. I wanted to feel her lips on mine. Iâd kissed people once or twice since being freed but the disgust was still there. And now, itâs been well over a decade since Iâve kissed anyone on the mouth.
I used to think any joy or pleasure from any kind of intimacy was long since ruined. And sexâ¦I could take it or leave it. More often than not, I preferred a solo act, simply looking for the release and staying clear of any encounter with another person. And even at that, my release didnât always come.
But Morgan wanted it, needed it, and strangely, I couldnât deny her. I meant what I said to her and was just as surprised as she was at my easy confession.
